Auralis, a wholly owned subsidiary of ViroPharma Ltd, is dedicated to developing and supplying products that meet an unmet medical need, including those which are supplied through our ‘specials’ service.

In the UK, a medicinal product has to be licensed before it is marketed; however, a patient may have a clinical need that cannot be met by any currently licensed product. To meet this need, the law allows the manufacture and supply of unlicensed medicinal products – called ‘specials’ – if they fulfil a ‘special need’. The doctor, dentist or supplementary prescriber has direct personal responsibility for the specials that they prescribe for use by their individual patients.
